A motorcyclist drove into a petrol station store in Elst, Gelderland, on Tuesday morning. The driver was seriously injured. There may be a connection with a house fire in Huissen, the police report on Twitter.
Around 5.00 am the accident happened along the A325 near Elst in the direction of Arnhem. Images show that the driver entered the store with his motorcycle through a closed roller shutter.
The first investigation by the police shows that the incident may be related to a fire in Huissen, of which the police received a report at 4.45 am. Due to the ongoing investigation, the police cannot yet make any statements about this possible connection.
No people were present in the house in Huissen. As a precaution, three surrounding homes have been evacuated and the surrounding area has been cordoned off.
The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with "serious injuries". It is unclear how the driver is currently.
