The three women had met to celebrate the new year in one woman's apartment in Sundsvall. A lot of alcohol was drunk during the evening, there was some disagreement between the victim and the now convicted woman but no serious quarrel. Early in the morning, the apartment owner went out to smoke. When she returned, she heard cries for help and opened the front door. She then witnessed a bloody attack, the now convicted woman sat on top of the murdered man and stabbed her with a knife. She closed the door and alerted SOS.

Bloody deed

The telephone call to SOS shows that the murder is taking place during the alarm call. Screams are heard in the background. The police patrol called to the scene was met by a bloody scene already in the hall. The suspect was squatting next to her victim with a knife in her hand, covered in blood. The police ordered her to release the knife, but she did not release it until she was sprayed with pepper spray.

She behaves confused and speaks incoherently. She does not answer the policemen's questions but instead mumbles "he is mean, he is dangerous ... he is lying on the ground".

Severe injuries

The murdered woman had suffered very serious injuries and according to the police preliminary investigation, even the ambulance staff had difficulty dealing with the sight that met them. The forensic examination showed that the woman was exposed to at least 143 injuries caused by a knife.

- I have never seen so many (injuries) before, there are very many and they are the ones we managed to determine, said Gisela Pettersson, chief physician in forensic medicine and the person who performed the autopsy in her testimony during the trial.

Not mentally ill

Analyzes of the woman's blood test show that she was significantly under the influence of alcohol and of the narcotic drug pregabalin when the murder was committed. An initial examination of her mental state showed that a serious mental disorder could be suspected. But after a major forensic psychiatric examination, the National Board of Forensic Medicine announced that the woman "has not committed the suspected act under the influence of a serious mental disorder, does not suffer from a serious mental disorder".

Blame the hostess

During the investigation, the accused woman said she remembered very little of the evening but blamed what happened on the hostess of the party and said that she put pregabalin in her glass. However, a hair sample from the woman shows that she took the preparation for a long time.

The National Board of Forensic Medicine's conclusion is that the violent violence was triggered by the woman feeling bullied by the others at the party and becoming very angry, combined with "high-grade intoxication and the influence of drug-classified drugs (with increased aggression and reduced impulse control as a result)".
