As the politician noted in an interview with the first deputy general director of TASS Mikhail Gusman, from the point of view of Israel, Iran's presence in Syria is unacceptable.

"For us, as long as the Iranian presence continues, there is no possibility of any settlement of relations with Syria," Lieberman said.

In February, Tehran said that Iran would give a crushing response to any "stupid and aggressive actions" by Israel. The Iranian side intends to defend its presence in Syria, they added.

As Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif noted in October 2019, the Iranian military will remain in Syria as long as the Syrian government allows it.
