Iran yesterday recorded more than 2,700 new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19), in the highest daily toll in more than a month, at a time when the Iranian Ministry of Health called for fines for people who do not put up masks.

Finally, Iran recorded an upward trend in the number of new infections and deaths caused by the new Corona virus, since it recorded the lowest numbers in May, and this prompted the authorities to make the gags mandatory in closed places, and to re-impose restrictions that were gradually lifted since April, in an attempt to reopen the economy . However, Iranian citizens can be seen without muzzles inside the capital's shops and banks, and state television often criticizes them for this.

A spokeswoman for the Iranian Ministry of Health, Sima Sadat Larry, said that the new cases, which amount to 2751 cases, are the highest number since the fifth of last June, when the ministry announced 2,886 injuries in one day.

The new figures raise the death toll in Iran, since late February, to 314,786, according to Larry. 212 people died as a result of the virus within 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 17,617 deaths.

The Iranian Assistant Minister of Health, Iraj Haririjee, called for a fine for those who violate the rules of putting masks, and the only penalty applied is refusing to provide the service in public places. He said, "Deterrence methods must be applied naturally, one of which is the fine of people who do not wear masks, but those who are physically unable to purchase masks must be exempted."

The price of the muzzle in Iran ranges between 15 and 68 US cents, depending on its type.
