In detail, the Ministry of the Interior warned against the failure of some families to commit their children to sitting in their assigned seats inside the vehicles while driving, confirming according to studies that adhering to this procedure reduces the risk of accidents for children, and the resulting injuries and deaths by 54%, and 71% for newborns.

Traffic departments in the state issued a 1978 violation, last year, due to the children sitting in the front seats of the vehicles, compared to 2801 violations in 2018, noting the provisions of the executive regulations of the Federal Traffic and Traffic Law No. 21 of 1995, and Ministerial Decisions 177 and 178 of 2017 regarding the rules Traffic control procedures, which included obliging drivers to provide protection seats for children under the age of four, as well as not allowing a child from the age of ten or under, or a length of less than 145 cm, to sit in the front seat of the vehicle, where a fine of 400 dirhams is applied to each Infraction.

Official reports indicate that many children were involved in road accidents that resulted in injuries and deaths, due to the fact that they did not sit in the seats assigned to them inside the vehicle, and that their families did not adhere to safety and security measures, in addition to some mothers carrying their infants in the front seats.

For its part, Abu Dhabi Police warned families of the dangers of children under the age of ten sitting in the front seats, stressing the necessity of the commitment of the drivers of vehicles to have children seats inside the vehicles, because it is important in protecting them from the effects of traffic accidents and ensuring the safety and security of children in vehicles, especially with regard to children riding seats Assigned to them to ensure that they are not exposed to danger.

She called on parents to pay attention to the dangers of putting their young children in their arms while driving the vehicle, as this poses a great danger to their safety, and to avoid traffic accidents.

She affirmed her continuous interest in spreading traffic culture with preventive requirements and safe seating for children in vehicles, and urged drivers to use child-friendly seats in vehicles to protect them from traffic accidents.

She stressed the need to adhere to the sitting of children under the age of four in the seats allocated to them in vehicles, noting the risks that children may be exposed to, in case the seats allocated to them are not used.

According to the Traffic Law, children are not allowed to sit in the front seat before reaching the age of 10, and children under this age must use safety belts with internal belts until they reach 145 centimeters, and when the child reaches this age, he can use a seat belt.

Neglect is punishable by law

Police departments have warned drivers not to leave their children in vehicles alone during the shopping process, or for any other reason that endangers the lives of children, as this is a crime punishable by law, and everyone who proves negligent in such cases will be referred to the judicial authorities, to take legal action against him.

She explained that leaving children with vehicles may cause death or suffocation due to children messing with the car key and closing it, which leads to a lack of oxygen and high temperatures inside the vehicle or moving it, due to tampering with the transmission and the occurrence of an accident, or the exploitation of weak souls and theft of the car.
