Donna Welton, a former Ambassador to Afghanistan, has been appointed to the US representative to negotiate the new ROK-US defense contributions as a “Japan currency”.

The new Welton representative is the successor to former James D. Hart, who recently moved to the Arctic Circle.

A State Department spokesman said on the 3rd (local time) to a South Korean media inquiry about the succession of former Dehart representative, "After the announcement of our new Arctic Coordinator last week, Donna Welton has taken over as the new negotiator for Dehart's successor. I am happy to do this."

The new negotiator, Wellton, will be in charge of the US-ROK defense-sharing negotiations, the US-ROK Defense Forces Special Agreement, and all other US defense cooperation and contributions worldwide.
