The Court of Investigation and First Instance 2 of Sabadell has ordered the reopening of the investigation for the murder of the librarian and journalist of Mataró Helena Jubany on a Sabadell farm in December 2001. The case has been provisionally filed since October 7, 2005 without any of the parties, neither the prosecution nor a private accusation, presenting an appeal, neither in reform nor in appeal, against this decision and the crime prescribed the next year. However, on June 5, the private prosecution, representing the victim's family, asked to reopen the case to practice new tests, such as the statement of several people who appeared on a TV3 program about this crime.

For this death there is a person under investigation, Santiago LP, after the other accused, a partner of this defendant, committed suicide in prison defending his innocence. In 2005, the court closed the case after considering that there were not enough indications to prosecute anyone for this crime. However, the victim's family believe statements have been released that people who shared hobbies, such as hiking or environmental activism, with the suspect and victim who could question their alibi regarding the weekend of the crime.

The body of Helena Jubany was found after being missing for several days. She was allegedly shot from the roof of a building on the morning of December 2, 2001, and her body was completely naked and full of burns. In addition, remains of sleeping pills were found in her body, so during the investigation it was ruled out that she could climb the top of the building alone. Several of these medications were found several months later at the home of the main suspect, who was in the same building as the crime scene, although the accused committed suicide in prison defending her innocence.

The indications also pointed to the couple of the accused, the current investigated, but was never arrested. Helena Jubany's relatives have created a website to request that the case be reopened. This crime has other mysteries since, months before her death, Helena received food and drink with sleeping pills along with several anonymous ones.
