Recently, South Korea’s metropolitan area and central areas were hit by heavy rains. As of August 2, the heavy rain had caused at least 6 deaths and 8 missing. A large number of residents were moved to shelters.

  According to South Korean media reports, deaths and missing accidents caused by heavy rains mainly occurred in the metropolitan area and the areas of Chungcheongbuk, Gangwon and Gyeongsangbuk. An 80-year-old man in Gwanak District, Seoul, was swept away by floodwater and died. A house in Ancheng, Gyeonggi-do was flooded by mudslides, resulting in one death. Mudslides and landslides in Chungcheongbuk Province caused 4 deaths, and 8 people, including a firefighter who rescued at the disaster site, were missing.

  Due to the frequent occurrence of disasters such as landslides, mudslides, and residential flooding caused by heavy rains for several days, some railways and highways in South Korea have been temporarily closed. On the afternoon of the 2nd, the Ministry of Administration and Security of South Korea announced that it would raise the emergency response level for rainstorms to the highest level of "Phase 3".

  According to a news released by the Korea Meteorological Agency on the 2nd, affected by the fourth typhoon "Hagupit" this year, heavy rains will continue to affect central Korea in the next few days.
