FIFA has said that there is no reason for the Swiss authorities to launch criminal investigations against the organization's president, Gianni Infantino, who will continue to perform his duties normally.

The Swiss authorities said last Thursday that a special prosecutor had been appointed to look into the dealings between Prosecutor Michael Lauber Infantino and launch investigations against the FIFA president. Uber Infantino has denied any wrongdoing.

"There is no reason to open any investigation because it does not direct any error ... and there is no indication that there is any criminal crime," FIFA said in a statement on Sunday.

He added that the meetings were not secret and were held in public places such as hotels and restaurants, according to the choice of the Swiss Prosecutor.

"FIFA and its president categorically deny any indication or speculation that the president was trying to exert any form of improper influence on the Swiss federal prosecutor."

FIFA confirmed that Special Prosecutor Stephan Keeler, who had opened criminal investigations, "did not provide any serious evidence or legal grounds for opening any investigations, and he lacked any details regarding the substance of the case."

The statement concluded that the FIFA President "will continue to perform his duties fully, implement his duties and continue to cooperate with the authorities in Switzerland and around the world."
