The general secretary of Palazzo Chigi Roberto Chieppa sent a letter to Matteo Salvini's defense on 3 July with the requested documents on the Gregoretti affair. This is what Ansa is able to ascertain after the League leader complained about the lack of answers. The letter, as learned from sources of the General Secretariat of Palazzo Chigi, is dated 3 July and signed by Chieppa and is addressed to the secretariat of the lawyer Giulia Bongiorno. The document concerns "defensive investigations in the interest of the assisted senator Salvini".

"As is clear from the documents of the Secretariat Office of the Council of Ministers, in the period 25 July-31 July 2019 the Council of Ministers met only once (on 31 July) in order to adopt the measures indicated in the order of day, which did not include the issue relating to the affair of the Gregoretti ship, which was not the subject of discussion in the context of the "various and eventual" ones in the aforementioned Council of Ministers, nor of the subsequent Council ".

This is the answer given, as far as is learned, by the General Secretariat of Palazzo Chigi to Matteo Salvini's lawyers on the Gregoretti case. The letter of reply allegedly included a note from Conte's offices of direct collaboration, on the discussions between 27 and 31 July on the relocation of migrants with ministries and international bodies.
