02 August 2020 He entered the church of Santa Maria Stella in Fiumicino, and after having stolen the money contained in the offertory he also stole the keys of the parish priest's car and fled to Rome with the car. The thief, a 40-year-old Roman with precedents, was stopped shortly afterwards by the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Nucleo of Rome, who reported him for receiving stolen goods and damage.

The car in which the 40-year-old was traveling was stopped in Viale Gregorio VII, where the military was carrying out traffic checks. It was the verification at the terminals that allowed the military to discover that the vehicle had been stolen a few hours earlier, and the owner, the parish priest, had just reported the theft at the Fiumicino police station.

The military then found in the pockets of the man also 65 euros, in coins, stolen from the offertory, as well as some personal belongings of the prelate.
