"We couldn't wait to arrive!" For the French who left on Saturday, it's finally time for vacation. On the program, visit to the French regions, rest, but also respect for barrier gestures, as Europe 1 observed in Bormes-les-Mimosas, in the Var, where the Lou Cabasson campsite is fully booked.

REPORTAGE

That's it ! For all the French who had to endure kilometers of traffic jams on Saturday, it is (finally) time for vacation. Some, like Nadège, Ludovic and their children, have driven more than seven hours. Leaving from Isère, this family decided to put their luggage in the Lou Cabasson campsite, in Bormes-les-Mimosas in the Var. The closer to the finish line, the harder the wait for Loane, the smaller of the two children. "We were hot, we couldn't wait to arrive, we wanted to swim, to visit suddenly, it was long," explains the little boy.

"We feel the Covid effect"

The discovery of the small mobile home did not disappoint. Nadège had imagined a week in the region ... or on the terrace. "She is perfect", rejoices the mother of the family. "Above all, it is sheltered! So, there, I can already see the breakfasts, the aperitifs with friends… I like it!". Especially since three and a half months ago, the Easter holidays were canceled. Summer? For a long time, Ludovic, the father, wondered if the campsite could reopen ... His reservation confirmed, it was almost unexpected.

"The residents tell us: 'We need a rest'"

Because, as we explain to you in this article, domestic tourism is emulating this summer. And this campsite is no exception. "In terms of the pitches for tents, mobile homes and chalets: the park is 100% complete", explains Christine Roucoult, director of the Lou Cabasson campsite. "At the level of the people who arrive, we feel the Covid effect. We feel that they needed these vacations. They ask us if the campsite is really calm, because they themselves say it: 'We need rest '", she tells the microphone of Europe 1.

However, even if the holidays are a welcome break, "we have to remind residents of the barrier measures, it puts them a little under stress at the start", confides Christine Roucoult. But tourists get used to it eventually. Even if the mask is compulsory (at reception or on the beaches), the epidemic is behind them… At least for a while. "They must feel on vacation," concludes the director.
