"A member of the operational headquarters, deputy of parliament Alkhas Jinjolia stressed that restrictive measures are needed at the border along the Psou River today," the Abkhaz Ministry of Health reports.

Such a proposal was put forward during an emergency meeting of doctors and members of the operational headquarters, dedicated to the epidemiological situation associated with the opening of the border on Psou.

At the same time, Deputy Minister of Health Alkhas Konjaria expressed concern that in case of illness, those who come to the republic may "choke".

“We had an outbreak among the local population even before the opening of the border and the Gudauta hospital starts to fill up, every day we identify about 8-10 patients, and already at this stage we understand that it will be extremely difficult to cope with such a flow of patients, and adding those whoever arrives, we will simply "choke" and will not be able to provide assistance to either our citizens or anyone else, "he said.

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order on the opening of the Russian-Abkhaz border.

The deputy head of the State Security Service of Abkhazia Rustam Latipov said that since the opening of the border, “several thousand people” have entered the republic.
