"According to information from regional forestry dispatch services, over the past 24 hours on August 2, 35 forest fires were liquidated in Russia on an area of 5,676 hectares," RIA Novosti is quoted as saying.
By the end of the day, 61 forest fires were active in Russia, which were actively extinguished.
Earlier it became known that Yakutsk on Saturday, August 1, was shrouded in smoke from forest fires.
