Tiktok, owned by Chinese Bytedance, is extremely popular especially among children and young people all over the world. The app has previously also been banned in India, due to fears that it could be used as a spy tool by the Chinese dictatorship.
Donald Trump said on Friday that he may already on Saturday sign an order banning the app in the US, reports Reuters.
- We do not comment on rumors and speculation. We are convinced of Tiktok's long-term success, says Tiktok in a statement.
It is still unknown what authority Donald Trump has to ban the app and how such a ban would be enforced.
Tiktok has just over 80 million users per month in the United States and hundreds of millions more in the rest of the world.
