Stéphanie Mérillat, the second chairman of the Swiss hockey club EHC Biel, was shocked to hear about the team's coach Antti Törmänen's cancer diagnosis.
- We are all in shock at EHC Biel. We initially thought the illness was related to the aftermath of Ant’s coronavirus infection, but this was not the case. Once the diagnosis was made, it was a hard blow to everyone, Mérillat told Le Matin.
Törmänen, 49, has been severely tested for his health in the spring, as he became infected with the coronavirus in March. Biel announced the cancer diagnosis of his Finnish coach yesterday. Association according encountered is cut and running is a half of the treatment period.

- He's more than a coach, a bit like a family member. Everyone appreciates him widely and the intention has been to work with him for a long time to come, Mérillat praised.
Biel will return to ice training in just over a week, and the club management is in a hurry to find a substitute for a Finn on sick leave.
Törmänen has coached Biel, who plays in the Swiss main series, for three seasons. Before that, he has stood at the benches of the IFK Helsinki and the Swiss team Bern, for example.
In his player career, Törmänen is especially remembered for the Jokers and the 1995 world champions.
