Despite a nice assist on the opener from Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud left Wembley defeated for the first time against Arsenal Alexandre Lacazette (2-1) for the FA Cup final on Saturday.

In 9 visits to the temple of English football, Giroud had always won, including three times at the same stage of the competition with the Gunners.

But the French center forward could not do anything, at the forefront of a Chelsea too slow and handicapped by the absence of N'Golo Kanté at the kickoff, then by the injuries of Cesar Azpilicueta and Pulisic in progress match.

Giroud fought a lot, as always, but did not create any real opportunities.

The other Bleu des Blues on Saturday was Kurt Zouma who neither shone nor unworthy.

However, he could not do anything on the double hook of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the second goal of the Gunners (2-1).

There is still a Frenchman who raised his arms at the final whistle, it is Alexandre Lacazette, holder in point alongside Nicolas Pépé and Aubameyang.

His performance will necessarily remain in the shadow of that of the Gabonese, author of a decisive double, and it is in any case not sure that this will change anything in the disaffection of the coach Didier Deschamps against him.

But the former Lyonnais won his second English trophy after the Community Shield on his arrival.
