- A swimmer from JSS, a legend, Christer Junefelt, did it in the 1960s. We have always wanted to do that, it is a big thing for all JSS swimmers, Marcus Holmquist explains.

It has been a season completely without competitions so now it was time to come up with something. This is what the elite swimmers Victor Johansson and Marcus Holmquist thought when they decided to take on the Visingsö-Jönköping route. A distance of about 27 kilometers, but which becomes slightly longer as they intend to seek closer to land to get a little calmer water compared to if they had swum straight.

Too cold water is the only threat to success

Only a water temperature below 15 degrees Celsius can prevent the two from succeeding with swimming from Visingsö to Jönköping.

If the weather is good and the water temperature is at least 15 degrees Celsius, they plan to start at eight o'clock on Saturday morning. They estimate that the swim will take about eight hours.

- With the weather we have right now (Friday) and as the conditions look to be tomorrow, there is a very good chance that we can handle this, says Victor Johansson.

- But if we could not complete the swimming tomorrow (Saturday), we will make a new attempt on Sunday, he says.

The two are used to swimming in open water, something they have done a lot. An escort boat with provisions will go next to them and if they are forced to cancel, there will also be warm clothes on board.

- It is the cold that can make it really, because if it gets too cold, it will simply be dangerous to swim, says Marcus Holmquist.
