The 89-year-old "Xintiandi" president was arrested in the early morning! Once pressured by the mayor of Seoul to kneel down and apologize

Overseas Network, August 1 According to Yonhap News Agency, at 1:00 am local time on August 1, South Korea's Suwon District Court issued an arrest warrant for Li Wanxi, who was suspected of obstructing the government's epidemic prevention work. Lee Man-hee is 89 years old and is the president of the "Xintiandi" church in South Korea.

The court stated that some of Li Wanxi's criminal suspicions have been confirmed. Taking into account the possibility of destroying evidence, although he is old and sick, but not to the point that it is difficult to serve his sentence, the court agreed to the prosecution's request to issue an arrest warrant. Lee Man-hee, who was waiting for the results in the Suwon Detention Center, was arrested on the spot.

In February this year, the "Xincheondi" Church in Daegu became the center of the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia in South Korea. As of the end of June, more than 40% of the confirmed cases in South Korea were members of the "Xincheondi" Church.

According to the prosecutor’s allegations, after the “Xintiandi” outbreak, Li Wanxi and core members of the church were suspected of concealing the list of believers and meeting addresses from the government; in addition, he was also suspected of embezzling 5.6 billion won (approximately RMB 32.74 million) of church funds, and Unauthorized religious activities in public without government consent.

Faced with Xintiandi’s refusal to cooperate with the government investigation, the late Mayor Park Won-soon of Seoul showed a tough and decisive attitude. On March 1, he prosecuted 12 core members of "Xintiandi" including Li Wanxi for homicide. Under strong pressure, in the afternoon of the next day (March 2), Li Wanxi made his first public appearance and knelt down to apologize at the press conference. (Overseas Network Liu Qiang)
