"The Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation approved the indictment in the criminal case against the general director of Sisim LLC, the head of the site and the mining foreman of this enterprise," the message says.

The defendants are charged under Part 3 of Art. 216 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of safety rules during construction and other work, resulting in the death of two or more persons).

In October, in a gold mine in the Malaya Seiba River valley in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, there was a cascade accident of water retaining dams, which killed 20 people.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred due to the defendants' failure to comply with the requirements of the project documentation for the development of a gold-bearing quarry.

“Violations of the rules for the safe conduct of work led to an increase in the water level in one of the reservoirs, followed by erosion and collapse of the dam, which provoked the destruction of four downstream dams,” the Prosecutor General's Office said.

It is noted that copies of the indictment will be handed over to the accused, after which the case will be sent for consideration to the Kuraginsky District Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee announced the completion of the investigation into the case of the breakthrough of dams near Krasnoyarsk.
