Trevor Reed has been held in the "Vodnik" pre-trial detention center for a year, since the moment of his arrest, the PMC said.

“I am a student at the University of North Texas, studying international relations. According to the program, he was supposed to learn a foreign language and came to Moscow for this. Three months before his arrest, he studied at the courses, ”the human rights activist quotes him.

According to the convict, on the Internet he met a Russian girl named Alina and lived with her.

“We were going to get married in America, but now we have to here. Can you tell me how to do it? " - Reed turned to the members of the PMC.

In the pre-trial detention center, Rid, according to him, was visited not only by Alina, but also by his parents: a father who served as a firefighter and a mother who works as a "doctor's assistant."

Members of the commission, who visited Reed in November 2019, noted his clear progress in his knowledge of the Russian language - previously "he could not really say anything."

“While I can read only children's books in Russian, others are difficult. I wanted to study Russian, but not in such conditions, ”the American told about his language studies.

The American does not complain about the conditions of detention in the pre-trial detention center, his relations with his cellmates are normal, the POC added.

He called his criminal case falsified. According to members of the PMC, Reed is shocked by the severity of the sentence and is going to appeal it.

The Golovinsky court in Moscow sentenced Trevor Reed to nine years in prison for the fact that he, being intoxicated, staged a fight with the officers of the patrol service.
