These days, the Middle East is experiencing a double dire between corona spread and record heatwaves. In Iraq, where temperatures exceeded 50 degrees, electricity supply was not smooth, leading to complaints from citizens.

This is a report from reporter Kim Jeong-ki.

<Reporter> The

temperature in Baghdad, Iraq's capital, hit a record high of 51.8 degrees Celsius.

Southern Al Basra and Amara have risen to 53 degrees Celsius.

It's hard to breathe.

Even sprayers were installed all over the road, but it was not enough to cool the heat that lasted for a week.

The electricity supply is not even smooth, so every house uses a portable generator, and the streets are full of generator noise and fumes.

The impatient citizens came to the streets.

[Residents of Baghdad: Our citizens are hungry. However, we have not been able to supply electricity.]

Three days ago, two civilians were shot and killed by security forces during a protest against the power shortage.

The heat waves are also severe in neighboring countries.

Saudi Arabia 51.8 degrees.

In Lebanon, the highest temperature rose to 45.4 degrees.

In Lebanon, electricity is supplied only three hours a day.

The high temperature is due to stagnant high-pressure effects from the Red Sea to the Middle East, and weather forecasts predicted to drop slightly over the weekend.

In Iraq alone, more than 120,000 people have been diagnosed with corona19, and 4,600 people have died.
