The woman was found with a cable tie tied around her neck in a home in a town outside Karlskrona, on the night of 11 July last year. The now 56-year-old man was arrested on the spot.

The man has always claimed that the victim sustained the injuries himself and that as soon as he discovered what had happened, he alerted the police and ambulance.

Rejects the appeal

But the district court ruled in May this year that it is beyond reasonable doubt that the 56-year-old murdered the woman, and he was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the murder.

The man chose to appeal the verdict - but today the Supreme Court announced that they will not take up the case for review.
