He explained that “while running for the State Duma, the deputies provide the Central Election Commission with information about their citizenship, income, property, convictions, and so on,” as the head of the committee noted, “in accordance with the federal election legislation, the CEC of Russia has the authority to apply to the relevant authorities with the idea of ​​verifying their reliability ”.

Earlier, the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin instructed the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption and the Commission for Monitoring the Reliability of Information on Income and on Issues of Parliamentary Ethics to request from the Central Election Commission of Russia data on the possible presence of dual citizenship or a residence permit in another country from a number of deputies.
