Strict 14-day quarantine and PCR testing Government and US Army in Japan agreed July 29, 18:31

Based on the fact that the U.S. military personnel have been infected with the new coronavirus one after another in Okinawa Prefecture, etc., the Japanese government and the U.S. Armed Forces in Japan have been conducting isolation for 14 days for all military personnel entering the country. It was announced that the measures were in agreement with the strict implementation of PCR tests.

U.S. military personnel are not subject to entry denial based on the Japan-US Status of Forces Agreement, but in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the U.S. side will quarantine military personnel who entered Japan for 14 days. It is said that from the 24th of this month, PCR tests will be performed before the isolation measures are completed.

The Japanese government and the United States Armed Forces in Japan have jointly announced such measures to prevent infections, and the US side says that it will ensure closer cooperation with local governments and health authorities where the bases are located.

On top of that, it was agreed that 14 days of quarantine measures for all entering military personnel and the strict implementation of PCR tests were extremely important.

In addition, we will continue to announce the number of new infected people at each base since mid-month this month.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan's Japan-US Status Agreement Office said, "We would like to thoroughly disclose information and eliminate distrust of US military bases in Japan."
