MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who became a billionaire following their divorce, has given nearly $ 1.7 billion to more than a hundred organizations. A third of its donations ($ 586.7 million) were made to organizations working for racial equality.

"Like many, I witnessed the first half of 2020 with a mixture of heartbreak and horror," she said on the Medium platform.

"Life will never stop finding new ways to expose the inequalities of our systems", adds the one who had committed, after finalizing in July 2019 her divorce from the richest man in the world by touching 38 billion dollars, to donate half of his fortune.

She explains that she has since made donations to more than a hundred organizations. "I made a contribution to each of them and invited them to spend it in whatever way they thought best to advance their cause," she wrote. "They all tackle without exception complex challenges which will require continuous efforts over many years," she adds.
