The Interior Ministry has given the green light to four new approaches for ETA prisoners to prisons in the Basque Country . And again, two of them with blood crimes. There are already more than fifty ETA members approached in this legislature.

As stated in a statement, the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions provides for the transfer of four inmates convicted of terrorism to the Logroño and Madrid V prisons .

Iván Apaolaza Sancho is one of the ETAs approached, from Granada to Logroño . He entered prison on October 19, 2008 and is serving a 35-year sentence for membership of a terrorist organization, attack and deposit of arms and ammunition. He was part of the command that ended the life of Lieutenant Colonel Pedro Antonio Blanco . With the car bomb that ended the life of the military, ETA ended his truce during the Aznar government. The lieutenant colonel's widow is Conchita Martínez , patron of the Terrorism Victims Foundation .

Another of those approached with blood crimes is Aitor Fresnedo , who will be transferred from Jaén prison to Logroño prison. He entered prison on July 27, 1996 and has a sentence of 30 years and six months for the crimes of murder, terrorism, attack, deposit of weapons, possession of explosives and disobedience.

In its explanatory statement, Interior does not indicate that it is repentant or that it has apologized to its victims. He notes that he served three-quarters of the sentence in September 2015 and "has accepted prison law and participates in scheduled activities."

Aitor Fresnedo was arrested in December 1995. He is serving a sentence, among other crimes, for shooting a national police officer in a Bilbao Post Office . At the trial, held at the National Court, he beat the policemen who were guarding him and called the court "fascists".

Gold of the approached is Raúl Ángel Fuentes Villota , who will travel from Alicante II to Madrid V ( Soto del Real ). Interior recalls that he entered prison on August 26, 2014 and is serving a 30-year sentence for an attack.

Again, the controversial article 100.2 also appears in the prison dynamic on terrorists. "The General Secretariat has resolved the application of the principle of flexibility 100.2 to its classification in the first degree and, at the proposal of the Alicante Treatment Board, transfer to the Madrid V Penitentiary Center."

Raúl Fuentes Villota was convicted of trying to kill a national police officer with a bomb that was to be placed in the agent's vehicle when he was arrested.

In the two previous cases there is no mention, but in this case, Interior clarifies that "it recognizes the damage caused and has asked for forgiveness for the suffering caused."

The fourth of the ETA members, Oihana Baquedano Maidagan , will also go from Jaén to Logroño. She entered prison on October 3, 2002 and has an 18-year sentence for conspiracy, possession of explosives, and possession of weapons without a license.

Interior reports that this ETA member has sent a letter asking for forgiveness of the victims, has accepted prison law and participates in scheduled activities.
