Cayetano Martínez de Irujo (57) has definitely broken with his brothers. The publication of his controversial memoirs, From Cayetana to Cayetano , where he revealed intimate aspects of the Alba and his traumatic childhood , produced a fracture in the aristocrat's relations with the rest of his family, but now the break seems definitive. Cayetano has become totally detached from the House by selling his older brother, Carlos, the current Duke of Alba, his part of the brand that sold the oil and other gourmet products that are made on the family farms of the Casa de Alba. Cayetano has sold his share for 300,000 euros, according to the Informalia portal. That is the amount that the Duke of Alba has valued the part of his brother and, in exchange, he will take care of the million euros of debt that the company, founded in 2013, carried, informed Informalia.

The bad relationship between Cayetano and his older brother goes back a long way. The death of the Duchess of Alba, in November 2014, was the final schism between the two. Carlos Fitz-James (71), upon assuming the title of his mother and the head of the Casa Alba, invited his brother to leave the Liria palace, where he lived with his brother Fernando, and also to take their horses from the stables of the residence.

In January 2015, he separated him from the Casa de Alba Foundation , the institution that manages the family heritage, a decision that was very painful for the Duke of Arjona and Count of Salvatierra, as he himself has recognized in the numerous interviews he has given in these last months. Cayetano explained in EL MUNDO that his mother asked in a letter not to be removed from the management of the House, but the current Duke of Alba assured that it was not a binding document.

The disagreements continued. In November 2017, coinciding with the third anniversary of the death of the Duchess of Alba, Cayetano inaugurated a monument in homage to her mother in the chapel of the Church of the Christ of the Gypsies, where part of her ashes rest. The work, which cost 100,000 euros, was made at the initiative of the Duke of Arjona and was largely paid for, with the money raised by the brotherhood, but not by the Duke of Alba.

The publication of Cayetano's memoirs was the definitive tip to the bad relationship of the brothers, who did not speak to each other. In the book, the Duke of Arjona opened up a channel and told about his family's intimacies that made the rest of his brothers feel very badly, with whom he has also broken up, with the exception of Fernando (61). The Marquis of San Vicente del Barco continues to live in his Liria apartment, as his mother established in his will, and he is the only one who maintains a relationship with Cayetano and tempers the waters among all.

Broken the links with Casa Alba, Cayetano continues with his life, focused on the agricultural exploitation of his Las Arroyuelas farm , in Carmona (Seville), where he spent his confinement and continues to live. He has also resumed horse racing and his health problems seem to have been left behind, which almost cost him his life. His children, Luis and Amina, and his partner, Bárbara Mitjan, are now his refuge.
