According to Singapore’s Lianhe Zaobao report, on the 28th local time, former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Najib was sentenced on the suspected misappropriation of funds from 1MDB subsidiary SRC. The judge of the Kuala Lumpur High Court ruled that Najib was convicted of all seven crimes.

  According to reports, Najib faces a total of 7 charges in the case, involving a total of 42 million ringgit (about 71 million yuan). The case started in April 2019. In November of the same year, the Kuala Lumpur High Court ruled that the prosecutor provided strong evidence for the 7 charges related to the SRC International case, and the case entered the defense stage.

  On July 28, 2020, Judge Mohd Nazran of the Kuala Lumpur High Court ruled that Najib was convicted of all seven counts, including three counts of criminal breach of trust, one count of abuse of power and three counts of money laundering.

  "1MDB" is a national investment fund established by Najib during his tenure as prime minister. So far, Najib has faced more than 40 accusations from the prosecutors. In addition to the SRC case, Najib also involved the "1MDB" case and the "1MDB" report tampering case.
