The star and coach of the Zamalek team and the former Egyptian national soccer team, Farouk Jafar, blew a loud scandal, accusing the African referees of bribery to help Zamalek and the Egyptian team.

Jaafar said - in a television interview with the Zamalek channel - that he was sitting with the referees before the African matches for Zamalek during the period of the eighties of the last century when he was the captain of the team, and the referee chooses him to award the team a penalty or expel a player from the competitors, in exchange for the referees shopping in Port Said stores They take everything they need, stressing that this was happening with all the teams that were playing in Africa at the time, such as Al-Ahly, Ismaili and the "Arab Contractors".

Jaafar added that Egypt was also complimented in one of the 1990 World Cup qualifying matches, as the referee canceled a correct goal for the opposing team, which led to the team qualifying for the 1990 World Cup.

Not so long ago, the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Ahmed Ahmed, in 2018, canceled 26 rulings on charges of corruption, and his assertion that the CAF will not tolerate any ruling that proves its corruption or makes effective mistakes that change the results of the matches.

The decision to write off came after a loud scandal, which was triggered by an investigative photograph filmed by a hidden camera, and some rulers documented bribes from a person who met these referees and claimed that he is responsible for the team who will run a match for him and he wants to facilitate his team’s mission in exchange for varying amounts.

During an interview with Al-Jazeera Net conducted with the Director of Referees Department of the International Football Federation, Massimo Busacca, after this scandal, he was very embarrassed when asked about it and asked to be excused from commenting on it, saying only that every profession contains corrupt people.

These decisive sanctions did not stop questioning African rulers, and in the same year, Algerian international referee Mehdi Abid Scharf was the first victim when he managed the first leg of the African Champions League final match between Al-Ahly and Al-Tarji Al-Tunisi, and his mistakes caused Al-Ahly to win 3-1, and in early 2019 Al Ittihad excluded him International Football Association (FIFA) from the preliminary list of referees nominated for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

At that time, a source in charge of the referees in Kef told Al-Jazeera Net that the Zambian international referee Ghani Sikazwe who managed the final of the African Nations Cup in 2017 between Egypt and Cameroon and was one of the most prominent referees of the continent, was excluded from the list of the World Cup referees as well.

He said that his exclusion came against the background of the mistakes he committed and caused Esperance to qualify for the final match at the expense of the Angolan first team, in the second leg of the 2018 African Champions League semi-finals, who won the title, and these mistakes led to his suspension by the African Union and accusing him of corruption.

It was followed by the Egyptian international referee Jihad Gresha, who was also chased after the accusations of his management of the first leg of the 2019 championship match between Wydad Casablanca and Moroccan Tunisian Taraji, where he made some mistakes that affected the outcome of the match as well, to be stopped as well and excluded from the 2019 African Nations Cup in Egypt, despite raising He was later arrested, as he was excluded from the list of referees of the World Cup Qatar 2022 as well.

It is strange that the return match between Esperance and Wydad witnessed a resounding scandal as well, but no penalty was imposed on the referees team led by the Gambian Bakri Ghassama, despite their responsibility to cancel a correct goal for Wydad player Walid Al-Karti, due to offside when the result progressed Esperance 1 - zero.

Although television replays confirmed the goal's validity, the referee did not take it out on the pretext of not using the video assistant referee (Var) technique in the match in a way that raised suspicions as well, as the technique was used in the first leg in Morocco, and this mistake resulted in the withdrawal of Wydad and crowning Esperance with the title.

The Moroccan press accused the refereeing team of the bias of Tunisian Esperance, and in fact that Esperance is the most team that benefited from the blatant mistakes of the referees at its stadium, unlike the foregoing, it gave him two titles for the most prominent African championship at club level, the Egyptian fans, but the African fans, will not forget the Ghanaian referee Joseph Lampeti , Who counted a goal from a clear handball that he couldn't see because the arm of Esperance striker Michael Eneramo was completely stretched as he deposited the ball with his hand in the window of Al-Ahly in the 2010 Champions League semi-finals.

Esperance tasted the same cup that Al-Ahly drank from, where he was subjected to a referee injustice in the first leg of the championship final at Mazembe Congolese Stadium, and lost 5-0, and failed to compensate at his stadium (1-1) to lose the title.

Despite Al-Ahly’s complaint to El Kef, he did nothing about the referee or his first assistant, who saw the hand more clearly, but in March 2017 the International Football Association (FIFA) decided to stop Ghanaian referee Lambte for life on charges of deliberately manipulating the outcome of the Senegal-South Africa match in the playoffs Qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, after being investigated in a complaint lodged by the Senegalese Federation against him and found that he had calculated a totally incorrect penalty for South Africa, who won the match 2-1.

FIFA then issued an official statement in which it confirmed that "it will not tolerate a change in the outcome of matches and that it will protect justice in football."

One of the former members of the Egyptian Al-Ahly team - who declined to be named - questioned some African referees, stressing that the team was subjected to a clear arbitration injustice from one of the referees, which led to a historic defeat by him against the South African Sun Downs, 5-0 in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in 2019 .

He said that the referee who managed the match was always summoned as a video referee in the Saudi League during the period in which the differences between Al-Ahly and Al-Sheikh's turmoil were most severe.
