Syrian opposition media, on social media, posted videos of a demonstration by soldiers from the Eighth Brigade of the Fifth Legion, backed by Russia, who were raising anti-Syrian slogans.

The opposition "Ahrar Houran" gathering said that the demonstration took place in the presence of the Russian military police against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, after graduating a military course that includes about a thousand elements under the supervision of the eighth Russian-backed brigade in the city of Busra al-Sham (east of Daraa, southern Syria).

The demonstrators of the 8th Brigade called for the overthrow of the regime and for the removal of what they called "Iranian militias" from the Daraa governorate, and they also demanded the release of detainees from the regime's prisons.

It is noteworthy that the Fifth Legion was opposed to the Assad regime; With the regime forces taking control of Daraa, a reconciliation took place between them and the Legion entered under Russian protection, and it became essentially supported by them.

The Legion personnel are dressed as the regular Syrian army, apparently under the Syrian regime, but - in practice - by Russian forces.

Earlier this month, the commander of the eighth brigade in the 5th Corps of the regime forces announced his intention to form a unified army in Houran, to counter Iran's influence.

The American Foreign Policy magazine spoke about 4 weeks ago about a limited popular rebellion against the Assad regime in Daraa Governorate, from which the first spark of the revolution against the Syrian regime was launched in 2011.
