Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane seeks to sign a new defender in order to compete with Danny Carvajal for the main position on the right side of the club's defense starting from next season.

The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported that Zidane was interested in contracting the Algerian defender of French club Nice, Youssef Attal.

The newspaper pointed out that Zidane admires Atal's skills, technical capabilities and his playing style, which are characterized by a significant contribution to the attack.

Atal, 24, has been playing for French club Nice for two years, and its marketing value is currently estimated at 20 million euros.

The young defender sparkled remarkably with the Algerian national team, and was a key element in the crowning of the Africa Cup of Nations that took place in Egypt in 2019.

The player, who graduated from the Paradou Academy in Algeria, was close to joining the English club Tottenham during the last winter transfer window, according to British press reports, but his exposure to a complicated knee level injury canceled the deal.
