Lina Nilsson, advisory expert at SSF Theft Protection Association, gives her best tips on how to keep the burglar away:

Have good locks and alarms

Ladders have become popular again during burglaries to get upstairs. There are many alarms here, so having it is important. According to a survey we have done, there are far too few locks on their windows, which is the most common way the thief enters.

Neighbor cooperation in apartment buildings

- Neighbor cooperation works at least as well here as if you live in a villa or terraced house.

Have uncleaned at home

- Remember not to clean so carefully, but let it look like you are at home. It is also important to have timers on lights, but maybe also on radio and other things.

Lock loose objects on the plot

- Lock any grills, outdoor furniture, ladders and brushes that the thief can use to break in. The very best thing is to set it.

Use the neighbor's stuff

- If the neighbor has several cars, ask them to park one of them in your driveway so that it looks like you are at home.

Protect your mailbox

- Ask a neighbor to empty the mailbox when you are away. Put a cover on the lock if you have an open mailbox or attach a box to the mailbox, so that the thief can not take your mail or use a sling to turn the lock and get in.
