The husband of a teacher working in Indonesia, killed with a knife near Narbonne in Aude, was indicted for "aggravated murder" and placed in pretrial detention on Sunday, after his arrest at the last minute at the airport of Toulouse, said the prosecution. During his police custody, Billy Kruger, of American nationality and who resided in Indonesia with his wife, admitted having stabbed him twice, later explaining to the examining magistrate that he was seeking "to defend himself" , said prosecutor Marie-Agnès Joly.

The victim, Laure Kruger, was discovered lifeless on Friday in a rainwater drain, a hundred meters from the couple's second home in Peyriac-de-Mer, a village south of Narbonne where they used to spend a few weeks a year. The Franco-American couple was to leave for Indonesia on Friday.

The family had no knowledge of domestic violence

The victim's father had called the town hall of Peyriac-de-Mer, worried about not seeing his daughter and son-in-law arrive, who should have visited him in Carcassonne before their departure. After the discovery of the body, the gendarmes contacted the air and border police who ended up arresting the man at the end of the morning while he was in the boarding area of Toulouse airport.
