27 July 2020: Landings in Lampedusa do not stop . Two more were registered last night when 114 migrants arrived on the island. The two groups were transferred to the first reception center where another 650 people are located.The new arrivals were greeted by protests from some citizens, who held a sit-in. Among the demonstrators also the ex senator of the League, Angela Maraventano. And, meanwhile, the transfers to empty the hotspot continue to collapse. 520 migrants were transferred to other facilities last night,
And two other boats with respectively 7 and 16 Tunisians on board arrived directly at the Madonnina di Lampedusa pier. The military of the Guardia di Finanza stopped the migrants immediately after the autonomous landing. After the first health checks, people were accompanied to the hotspot.
In Sardinia the good sea conditions are favoring some landings. Between yesterday and today 33 arrived and among them a woman and a child. First a small boat with 12 migrants on board blocked by the finance guard yesterday in Sant'Antioco in Sulcis, then during the night a second boat also arrived with 8 people on board, including the woman and the child. The boat was towed to the port and migrants were transferred to the Monastir first reception center.
About an hour later another small boat with 7 other migrants on board landed on the beach of Porto Pino, in the municipality of Sant'anna Arresi, also in Sulcis. On the spot were the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza. The migrants were then transferred by the police to the first reception center. Another 6 were then tracked down to Sant'anna Arresi as they walked away. After medical visits and identification operations, they were transferred to the Monastir first reception center, where they will remain in quarantine for the covid emergency.
In Bari, the prefecture announces that the current Cara guests have performed serological screening or oropharyngeal swab with a negative result. There are no scheduled arrivals in Puglia and already tomorrow the center will be lightened with the transfer of over 200 migrants.
Meanwhile, Alarm Phone reports that it has "alerted the authorities of a boat with 95 people in danger 33 hours ago and there are no rescues in sight. A merchant is monitoring the situation without assisting". writes the NGO on Twitter.
