The Iraqi Security Media Cell announced on Monday evening two explosions at the Speicher Air Force Base in Salah al-Din Governorate, and the Taji camp - where American and Iraqi forces are deployed - was attacked by a missile.

And the cell stated - in a statement published by the official Iraqi news agency - that the civil defense teams were able to control the fire that resulted from these two explosions, and that there were no casualties.

For his part, Saad Muhammad al-Naqib at the Salah al-Din Operations Command said that there is unconfirmed information about the explosion of gear boxes inside the base, after it was hit by a drone.

Taji camp

Earlier today, the Al-Taji camp, north of Baghdad, was attacked by 3 Katyusha rockets, which were launched from Sabaa al-Bor.

The Security Media Cell explained that these rockets landed on Iraqi military forces' sites, as the first missile fell on Squadron 15 of the army's aircraft, and caused significant damage to one of the aircraft.

While the second missile fell on the artillery and weapons store, causing material damage, while the third missile landed in the second squadron of the army aviation, but it did not explode.

Increasing frequency

And about 5 thousand American soldiers deployed in military bases throughout Iraq, within the international coalition to fight the Islamic State, and there is no recent statistics on the number of forces currently.

The frequency of these attacks has increased since the assassination of the Iranian Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani and the leader of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Organization, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, with a US air raid in Baghdad on January 3.

Earlier, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, issued a strongly worded warning to those launching the rockets, noting that they are "threatening the stability of Iraq."

Washington accuses the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades and other factions close to Iran of being behind the attacks.

Following previous rocket attacks, US forces withdrew from 7 military sites and bases across Iraq over the past months, in the context of relocation.
