“A criminal case has been initiated on the death of eight people found today in the passenger compartment of a car in the irrigation canal of the Zavolzhskaya irrigation system,” the UK said.
The case was initiated under part 5 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of traffic rules and the operation of vehicles, resulting in the death of two or more persons).
According to the UK, three minors aged 10, 11 and 17 were among the dead.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that in the Volgograd region the Renault Logan driver lost control and moved into an irrigation canal, as a result of which eight people died.
