Fridafors leisure center is closing down its operations

The chairman of Fridafors leisure center has told Smålandsposten that the leisure center will close down its operations and that the corona pandemic has hit the association hard when much has been canceled.

SVT Småland has reviewed the operations at Fridafors leisure center. Several municipalities have paid just over one million kronor to the illegal activities without checking whether there is a permit for the camp activities.

Fridafors leisure center is a non-profit association that has been arranging summer camps for several years. However, in order to have an activity for children covered by LSS, the law on support and service for certain disabled people, a permit from IVO is required. 

IVO takes what has happened seriously. The permit must, among other things, show that those who run the business have the right skills to take care of the children. IVO has started an investigation.

Tingsryd municipality is one of several municipalities that have repeatedly granted a place on the package. They did not know that there was no permit.

Officials at Fridafors leisure center did not want to be interviewed. In an email, they stated that there is a verbal agreement that gives the center the right to arrange youth camps for children with disabilities. IVO denies that an oral permit had been issued.
