After the verbal support, it's time for actions. On the occasion of a surprise trip to a Paris police station where he met units of the night anti-crime brigade, President Emmanuel Macron announced, Monday, July 27 in the evening, that a "specific allowance" for the staff of police working at night will be paid in the amount of 10 million euros, reports a press release from the Ministry of the Interior.

"This allowance aims in particular to support greater arduousness linked to night work and the transition to work cycles increasing the presence of the police in the field," said the press release. "The cost of this allowance will be provided for in the finance bill for 2021."

This is one of the demands expressed by the police unions during their meeting with the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin on July 20.

During this interview, the unions also emphasized the lack of resources, estimating that the envelope of 75 million euros of additional appropriations to renew and green the fleet of police vehicles and the gendarmerie obtained in the framework of the 2020 revised draft budget was not sufficient.

The minister and union representatives are scheduled to meet again in August.
