Paris star striker SG Kylian Mbappé, victim of a sprained right ankle, will only resume in "about three weeks", which makes him uncertain for the Champions League quarterfinal against Atalanta Bergamo on August 12 , announced Monday the PSG.

"The imaging workup carried out on Monday confirms a sprained ankle with an external ligament injury. Following this trauma, the recovery time is around three weeks," the club said.

This diagnosis confirms the expected package of his top scorer for the Coupe de la Ligue final against Lyon on Friday.

He also engages the player in a time trial for the final eight-team tournament ("Final 8") of C1 in Lisbon, where PSG aims to go far: between his injury contracted on Friday against Saint-Etienne in final of the Coupe de France (1-0) and the shock against Bergamo, 19 days ago.

If he misses the meeting against the Italians, Mbappé could sign his return in a possible semi-final on August 18, in case of qualification, or even in the final, on August 23, if his club were to play it for the first time in its history.

The unavailability of "Kyky" remains a blow for the PSG which, until then, carried out a preparation without a hitch, with the objective of limiting as much as possible the injuries.

The 21-year-old French international, who was the most leggy Parisian at the start of the meeting, saw his momentum cut off by a dangerous tackle from Stéphanois Loïc Perrin which earned the latter a red card.

Replaced in the wake, Mbappé reappeared later at the edge of the field with crutches and a brace on his painful ankle, to attend the end of the match and the ceremony of lifting the trophy.

His absence could benefit the Spaniard Pablo Sarabia, the usual lining of Parisian attackers, unless the coach Thomas Tuchel decides to change the system, by substituting a player with an offensive vocation by a midfielder.
