Employees of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Investigative Committee, suppressed the activities of a member of a terrorist organization planning a terrorist attack in one of the crowded places in the city of Moscow. This was reported by the FSB Public Relations Center.

“In the course of their work, officers of the special services and law enforcement agencies in the area of ​​abandoned garages located in the city of Khimki, identified a suspicious unidentified man who, while attempting to arrest and check, opened fire on law enforcement officers from automatic firearms. As a result of retaliatory actions, the offender was neutralized (received injuries incompatible with life), ”the message says.

The criminal was a citizen of one of the countries of Central Asia, who lived in the capital in a rented apartment. He carried an AK-74u assault rifle, three loaded magazines, two F-l grenades and one RGD grenade. During a search in the apartment, material evidence was found about the connection of the murdered with the emissaries of the MTO in Syria, as well as his preparation for the "mass execution of citizens."

Also in the Moscow region, the brother of the attacker was detained, who was looking for the latter for several days in order to prevent a relative from leaving to Syria "to participate in an international terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation."

Since the beginning of July, the FSB has repeatedly reported on the arrests of supporters of international terrorist organizations in various regions of Russia.

On July 7, FSB officers stopped a terrorist attack in the Astrakhan region - a man was arrested who, in order to join illegal armed groups operating in Syria, was preparing an attack on administrative buildings.

In the Rostov region, the activities of a conspiratorial cell of supporters of the MTO "Islamic State" *, which included six citizens of one of the Central Asian countries and Russia, were disclosed. The attackers "were preparing attacks on police officers and planning to commit terrorist acts in medical and educational institutions." Cases were initiated against them under the articles "Terrorist attack", "Illegal arms trafficking" and "Encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer."

In addition, a "terrorist act with the use of incendiary devices" in Khabarovsk was prevented. Security officials detained a citizen of one of the Central Asian republics born in 1988. The offender planned to travel to the war zone in the Middle East to participate in the activities of terrorist groups. A criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 30 ("Preparation for a crime") and Part 1 of Art. 205 ("Terrorist act") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the activities of a cell of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami ** were suppressed in the Republic of Crimea. FSB officers detained three leaders and four members of the group. The radicals spread terrorist ideology among local residents and recruited Crimean Muslims into their ranks.

In addition, on the territory of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, five members of the extremist religious association At-Takfir Wal-Hijra ****, who advocated the creation of a theocratic Islamic state - the Caliphate, were detained in the territory of the North Caucasus.

On July 23, during a special operation in Moscow, Novosibirsk and the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the activities of the interregional structure of the international terrorist organization “Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan” *** were suppressed. Special services officers detained 22 people from among its leaders and ordinary participants. The attackers recruited and transported people to the war zones, financed militants in Syria, and also made calls to commit terrorist crimes.
