Late last Friday night, thieves broke into Systembolaget in Lessebo. They brought with them a safe that contained some daily cash registers.

The burglary in Lessebo is the seventh in a row against Systembolag in southern Sweden in a short time. Systembolaget in Örkeljunga has been visited by thieves on two occasions.

Karim Ottosson is the local police chief in Ängeholm. He says that on one occasion the police were close to arresting the thieves but that they escaped.

Brought safe

- We tried to hit the car but unfortunately the police car was damaged, so we had to stop the car chase this time, says Karim Ottosson.

SVT Nyheter Småland has received confirmation that the thieves brought safes from several of the stores and that these are significant sums of cash in exchange.

Systembolaget has worked with security

Bo Albertsson is press manager at Systembolaget and believes that the thieves have a plan for how to access cash.

- They follow that plan when they move north in the country, as this week when the system company in Lessebo was next. We have worked a lot with security in our stores. This includes, among other things, that we have reduced cash handling, says Bo Albertsson.
