Venice 77
The personalities called to be part of the Jury of the Venice 77 Competition are:

Cate Blanchett - President (Australia), internationally acclaimed and award-winning actress, producer, philanthropist and active protagonist of the artistic community. Her numerous, extraordinary cinematic performances have earned her two Oscars (The Aviator, 2004, and Blue Jasmine, 2013), three Golden Globes (Elizabeth, 1998, I am not here, 2007, Blue Jasmine, 2013), three Bafta awards and numerous other nominations. At the Venice Film Festival she starred in the films Elizabeth (1998) by Shekhar Kapur and Io non sono qui (2007) by Todd Haynes, which earned her the Volpi Cup for best actress. Her most recent success is What Happened to Bernadette? (2019) by Richard Linklater.

Veronika Franz (Austria), director and screenwriter, begins as a film journalist for the Viennese newspaper Tageszeitung Kurier. Since 1997 she has followed the work of director Ulrich Seidl as an artistic collaborator, of which she is co-writer for Dog Days (Hundstage, 2001), Import Export (2007) and the PARADISE trilogy (2012/3). The documentary Kern (2012) is both his directorial debut and the first film made together with director Severin Fiala, followed by his first fiction feature film, Goodnight Mommy (Ich seh Ich seh, 2014), co-directed together in Fiala and presented in Venice Orizzonti. The film receives numerous awards and represents Austria at the Oscars. The two directors then made their first film in English, The Lodge, presented at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.

Joanna Hogg (Great Britain), director and screenwriter, considered today among the most important in her country. The first feature film, Unrelated (2008), with Tom Hiddleston, won the Fipresci prize at the London Film Festival. The second film, Archipelago (2010), received a special mention at the London Film Festival and a considerable success with the public. In 2013 he created Exhibition, with the Slits guitarist, Viv Albertine, and the British artist Liam Gillick. The most recent The Souvenir, executive producer Martin Scorsese, is presented at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival where he wins the Jury Grand Prix.

Nicola Lagioia (Italy), writer, has been director of the Turin International Book Fair since 2016. He published the novels Three systems to get rid of Tolstoy (without saving themselves) (minimum fax 2001, Lo Straniero prize), West for beginners (Einaudi 2004), Bringing everything home (Einaudi 2009, Vittorini prize, Volponi prize, Viareggio prize ), La Ferocia (Einaudi 2014, Strega Prize, Mondello Prize). It is one of the voices of Page3, Radio3's daily press review. He writes for newspapers such as "Repubblica", "Il Friday", "Internazionale", "La Stampa". His books are translated into 15 countries.

Christian Petzold (Germany), one of the most significant director and screenwriter of German cinema, has been awarded three times by German critics for the best film with Die innere Sicherheit (2000), presented in Venice, Gespenster (2005) and Yella (2007) , presented in Berlin. In 2008 he is in Venice in competition with Jerichow, so in 2009 he wins the Deutscher Filmpreis for best director. With The choice of Barbara in 2012 he obtained the Silver Bear in Berlin, where in 2018 he achieved a great critical success with The woman of the writer (Transit). Also in Berlin, in 2020 he won the Fipresci prize with Undine.

Cristi Puiu  (Romania), director and screenwriter, made his directorial debut in 2001 with the low-cost road movie Marfa şi bani (Stuff and Dough), presented at Quinzaines in Cannes and considered the film that started the New Romanian cinema. In 2005 his second feature, the black comedy La morte del signor Lazarescu, was a critical success and won the Prix Un certain Regard in Cannes. Similar success is achieved by Sieranevada, presented in 2016 in competition in Cannes. In 2020 Malmkrog won the Best Director Award in the Encounters section of the Berlinale.

Ludivine Sagnier (France), actress, first appeared on the big screen in 1989 in I want to go home! by Alain Resnais. In 1990 he participated in the blockbuster Cyrano de Bergerac. In 2003 he starred in two films presented in Cannes, La petite Lili and Swimming Pool, and played the character of Tinkerbell in Peter Pan by PJ Hogan. She often stars in the films of the French director François Ozon: Drops of water on hot stones, 8 women and a mystery and Swimming Pool, becoming one of the most appreciated and known French actresses to the public. Among his latest performances, Hirokazu Koreeda's La vérité, the opening film of the 2019 Venice Film Festival, and Paolo Sorrentino's second series The New Pope.

The Venice 77 Jury will award the following official prizes to the Feature Films in Competition: Golden Lion for Best Film, Silver Lion - Jury Grand Prix, Silver Lion - Best Director Award, Fox Cup for Best Performance male, Volpi Cup for the best female performance, Award for the best screenplay, Special Jury Prize, Marcello Mastroianni Award to a young emerging actor or actress.


Orizzonti
The international jury of the Orizzonti section is composed of:

Claire Denis - president (France), French director, screenwriter and actress, was born in Paris but grew up in Africa up to the age of 13. He graduated in 1972 from IDHEC and works as assistant to Jacques Rivette, Costa-Gavras, Jim Jarmusch, Wim Wenders. His debut film Chocolat (1988), a reflection on colonialism, wins over critics. Follow the devil's death (S'en fout la mort) (1990), in competition in Venice, US Go Home (1994), Nénette and Boni (Nénette et Boni) (1996), Beau Travail (1999), presented in Venice , Cannibal Love - Eaten alive (2001) and Friday evening (Vendredi soir) (2002). The subsequent White Material (2009) is in competition in Venice. In 2018, High Life is awarded at the San Sebastián Festival.

Oskar Alegria (Spain), Spanish director, from 2013 to 2016 was director of the Punto de Vista festival in Pamplona. His first film, The Emak Bakia house (2012), a documentary in search of the house on the Basque coast where Man Ray shot his Emak Bakia, is presented in numerous international festivals, including Telluride and San Sebastián, obtaining many awards. In 2019 he presented the documentary Zumiriki in Orizzonti in Venice, on his four-month experience lived in an isolated hut on a river.

Francesca Comencini (Italy), director, screenwriter, writer, daughter of the great director Luigi and sister of Paola and Cristina. He directed his first film Pianoforte (1984) in France, where he lived for 18 years, the story of two young drug addicts, winner of the De Sica Prize in Venice. He collaborates with his father on the screenplay for A Boy from Calabria. He approaches the documentary with Elsa Morante (1995), Shakespeare in Palermo (1997), Carlo Giuliani, boy (2002), presented in Cannes, and In the factory (2007). Among his fiction films, The words of my father (2001), The white space (2009) and A special day (2012) in competition in Venice, Amori che non stare stare al mondo (2017), presented in Locarno. Since 2014 he has directed 15 episodes of Gomorrah - The series, TV transposition of the novel of the same name by Roberto Saviano.

Katriel Schory (Israel), an Israeli producer, founded the Belfilms company in 1974, which has produced more than 150 films and TV shows, including feature films, documentaries and international co-productions. From 1999 to 2019 he was Executive Director of the Israel Film Fund, where he authorized more than 300 feature films, many of which were selected in the major festivals by winning prestigious awards, including Golden and Silver Lions in Venice, Orsi d gold and silver in Berlin, Camera d'or in Cannes and four Oscar nominations.

Christine Vachon (USA), American producer who won the Independent Spirit Award and the Producer Award of the Gotham Independent Film Award. He got his first hit with the production of Todd Haynes' debut film, Poison, Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. In 1995 he founded, together with Pamela Koffler, the film and television production company Killer Film, which won the Oscar with Kimberley Peirce's Boys Don't Cry. He produces some of the most acclaimed independent films, earning Oscar nominations with masterpieces by Todd Haynes Far from Heaven, I'm not here and Carol.

The Orizzonti Jury will award - without the possibility of ex-aequo - the following prizes: Orizzonti Prize for best film, Orizzonti Prize for best direction, Orizzonti Special Jury Prize, Orizzonti Prize for best male interpretation, Orizzonti Prize for best interpretation female, Orizzonti Award for best screenplay, Orizzonti Award for best short film.


Venice Opera Prima Prize "Luigi De Laurentiis"
The International Jury of the Venezia Opera Prima Prize "Luigi De Laurentiis" - Lion of the Future, is composed of:

Claudio Giovannesi - president (Italy), director, screenwriter and musician. His film La paranza dei bambini (2019), based on the novel by Roberto Saviano and presented in competition in Berlin, won the Silver Bear for best screenplay and was distributed in over 20 countries. Fiore (2016), in competition at the Cannes Quinzaine, received the special Silver Ribbon. Ali has blue eyes (2012), Special Jury Prize at the Rome Film Festival, was presented in competition at the Tribeca. The documentary Fratelli d'Italia (2009), had the special mention of the jury at the Rome Film Festival. For television he directed two episodes of the second season of the Gomorrah series.

Remi Bonhomme (France), director and programmer of international festivals, is the new artistic director of the Marrakech Film Festival and director of Atlas Workshops, the industrial platform of the Festival which supports the cinema of the African continent and the Middle East. From 2009 to 2020 he was general coordinator of the Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival and director of Next Step, a workshop for short film directors who are about to shoot their first feature film.

Dora Bouchoucha (Tunisia), producer and director of festivals, since 1994 has produced numerous feature films, short films and documentaries from Tunisia and other countries with her company Nomadis Images. His films have been selected at the Venice, Cannes and Berlin festivals. She created the Atelier de Projets at the Carthage Film Days, of which she was director in 2008, 2010 and 2014. In 2017 she was part of the International Jury of the Berlin Film Festival. Since 2018 she is the director of the Mediterranean festival of Manarat.

The Jury of the Venice Opera Prima Prize will award, without possibility of ex aequo, the Lion of the Future - Venezia Opera Prima Prize “Luigi De, among all the first feature films in the various competitive sections of the Exhibition (Official Selection and Autonomous and Parallel Sections) Laurentiis ”, and a prize of 100,000 USD, made available by Filmauro, which will be divided equally between the director and the producer.


Venice Virtual Reality
The International Jury of the Venice Virtual Reality section is composed of:

Celine Tricart - president (USA), director and screenwriter, expert of Virtual and 3D Reality known all over the world for the emotional strength of its stories and the particular visual style . His works have been presented in international festivals such as Venice, Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW. In Venice in 2019 he won the Grand Jury Prize with The Key for the best immersive VR work. Al Tribeca received the Storyscapes Award. He founded Lucid Dreams Productions, specialized in the use of new technologies to create innovative stories and to increase the role of women and minority voices in making cinema.

Asif Kapadia (Great Britain) is a film and documentary director known for his visual style and for the choices of extreme characters to tell. His Amy, which premiered in Cannes in 2015, which tells the story of singer Amy Winehouse, won the Oscar for best documentary. The film was the biggest box office hit in Britain for a documentary, also winning Bafta, Efa and a Grammy. In 2001 he co-wrote and directed his debut in the narrative film, The Warrior, shot in the desert of Rajasthan and in the snow of the Himalayas. In 2010, in the documentary Senna, he told the story of the Brazilian Formula One champion Ayrton Senna. In 2017 he directed two episodes of the Netflix Midhunter series. In 2019 he presented the documentary Maradona, nominated for the Bafta in Cannes.

Hideo Kojima (Japan) is a video game author known worldwide for having widened the boundaries of creativity in this field. He is considered the father of the stealth genre, an action video game based on the player's ability to avoid being detected by the enemy. In 2015 he founded the company Kojima Productions, adopting the motto From sapiens to ludens. In 2019, the company released its first title, Death Stranding, for PlayStation® 4. Since its release, Death Stranding has garnered numerous awards and worldwide success.

The Venice Virtual Reality Jury will award the following prizes:

Jury Grand Prize for the best immersive VR work, best immersive VR experience and best immersive VR story.
