It was on Tuesday that the accident occurred in a cottage area in Färjestaden on Öland. A mother and her son died while cycling along the road, while the father and the other son were injured.
The 55-year-old driver has been in custody since Thursday, among other things on suspicion of two cases of gross causing another person's death.
The driver was requested to be detained on Saturday but will be released after a detention hearing on Sunday morning.
Close to driving on another familyThe man is also suspected by the prosecutor of five cases of causing danger to another, since it became known that he was close to driving on another family in the same area just before the accident.
The man is not suspected of drunk driving and the prosecutor is still waiting for a response to a blood test to find out if the man may have been intoxicated.
The 55-year-old denies all criminal suspicions.
