The Sudanese Professionals' Movement and the Popular Movement North, led by Abdel Aziz Al-Helou, signed a political declaration in Juba, according to which they agreed that Sudan is an independent, sovereign, democratic, pluralistic, decentralized, and independent state that separates religion from the state.

This comes a day after he withdrew his recognition of all existing structures of the "Forces for the Declaration of Freedom and Change", which is participating in the transitional government, in protest against the performance of the government and the forces of freedom.

The political agreement included 17 points, the most important of which is that citizenship is the basis of rights and duties without discrimination, and the people are the source of powers, in which the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power prevail and the fair division of wealth.

It also stipulated that freedom of belief, freedom of worship, freedom of thought and religious practice should be protected, and that no party be based on religious grounds.

Agreement and points

The agreement also stipulated a return to the laws of 1974 until a permanent constitution was agreed upon, and to bring those involved in war crimes and genocide in Sudan to the International Court.

The political declaration also included transferring the negotiation file to the Sudanese cabinet in place of the sovereignty council, the just division of power and wealth, and the establishment of eight provinces in the country.

The declaration also called for the restructuring of the armed and other regular forces to become national forces that perform their functions under the constitution and protect the constitution and defend the sovereignty of the state and its lands from external threats.

The declaration also urged the handing over of those accused of Darfur crimes to the International Criminal Court, and affirming accountability and accountability and non-impunity for all human rights violations, war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

Withdrawal and criticism

Yesterday, Saturday, the Sudanese Professionals Caucus announced its withdrawal from the structures of the Forces for the Declaration of Freedom and Change (the ruling coalition for the transitional period) after criticizing its performance.

On July 3, the Professionals ’Association announced the freezing of the membership of five professional bodies affiliated to it after the escalation of internal disputes between the assembly’s bodies, which is one of the most prominent components of the popular movement against ousted President Omar al-Bashir.

On January 1, 2019, the Sudanese Professionals Caucus signed the Declaration of Freedom and Change with political and armed alliances that included the national consensus forces, an alliance of armed parties and movements in Sudan's appeal forces, the opposition Federal Rally, and civil society organizations.

On August 21, Sudan started a 39-month transitional phase that ends with elections, during which power is shared by both the Military Council and the forces of the declaration of freedom and change, the leader of the popular movement.
