Mask wear has become more popular all over the world recently, especially in public places where it is prohibited to be present without wearing a muzzle, which creates a problem for users who were using face recognition to unlock their phones.
One of the problems with wearing a muzzle has become the difficulty of unlocking your iPhone if you rely on Face ID technology. This is a problem for all iPhone users from iPhone X onwards, as new generations of Apple phones rely on face recognition technology instead of fingerprint recognition.
There are a few tricks that users can follow to work around this issue, including:
Make sure your device has the latest iOS 13 update.
Apple made many important improvements in its latest update to the iOS 13 system, one of the most important of which was the introduction of facial recognition technology, as it modified its algorithms to determine whether the face was wearing a muzzle or not, to achieve maximum speed in Unlock iPhone. How to prepare iPhone to unlock with mask
Here we will share some tricks that will allow you to set up facial recognition on your iPhone so that it will recognize you even with half of your face covered with a mask. Before performing the steps, please note that we had to try this several times in order to be able to set up trusted face recognition, but this is possible.
Half face and half mask
Fold the face mask in the middle and hang the muzzle with the ear. Hold the mask with one hand on your face so that it covers it exactly in the middle.
On an iPhone, go to Settings, and for Face Recognition and Passcode, enter the passcode.
Select the Set an alternate appearance option (if you have already set up an alternate appearance, you will not have this option. You will need to reset face recognition again) You will be invited to set up a new face ID. You may see a warning that your face is covered, but in our two trials, this message will disappear.
Follow the on-screen steps to allow the camera to take measurements and show signs to help you rotate your face inside the circle. Wait while it takes the first wiping of your face.
Before you start a second wiping camera, remove the mask and cover the other side of your face, once the second scan is complete, you should be able to unlock your iPhone while wearing the face mask.
The alternative face
If that doesn't work, our advice is to reset face recognition technology and start over, but this time create your first face scan while holding the mask on one side of your face, then create an alternate appearance option while holding the mask on the other side of your face .
When we used the second method with creating a new face identity from scratch while covering our face on one side and then covering our face on the other side using the alternative face option, we found that we were able to unlock the iPhone while we were wearing the face mask.
When we used the first method - once we created the Alternate Appearance option with a mask - we found it to be less accurate. Tends to work if the tip of the nose is visible, if the nose is completely covered, we find that it does not work well.
Print your face on a mask
