The Main Naval Parade was held in St. Petersburg in honor of the 324th anniversary of the founding of the fleet in Russia. The event was attended by 46 surface ships and submarines, 41 naval aviation units and over 4,000 military personnel. The parade was hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov. In his speech, the head of state emphasized that for three centuries military sailors have been performing “the most difficult tasks” for the good of the Motherland with dignity. He also stated that 40 new ships and vessels of various classes will be accepted into the Navy in 2020.
