A picture was published on the internet showing Syrian soldiers carrying a small black Hornet 3 plane known as the Black Hornet.

The picture appeared for the first time on the Internet on July 19, and the Syrian forces claimed to have discovered Black Hornet 3, also known as the personal reconnaissance system known as "PRS", in the northeastern region of the country.

The Black Hornet 3, developed by the American company FLIR Systems, is seven inches long and weighs only 33 grams, making it the smallest heli airliner used in warfare. It is controlled by a tablet-like touch control and a handheld controller.

The drone can be sent to a specified location using a GPS-enabled navigation system, where it can capture images along its path at specific points, then automatically return to its base, or it can be driven within the console's line of sight.

At first glance it may seem small, but its technologies are advanced. For example, it can use two full-motion daytime video cameras and a thermal photographer. As for night flights, the three cameras work together to produce single high-resolution images.

As for the Black Hornet 3 drones in Syria, it remains unclear who is behind them. Last year, the US military began using these drones in a number of its units.

France, whose forces also operate in the region, has a number of drones, although it has not been confirmed that its forces have this particular type.

The British Army bought the Black Hornet 3 for "research and development", not for practical use. More and more military units are buying such small technology for their effective war strategies.
