Customers from Norway also expressed their joy that the border with Värmland is now open.

Terje Hermansen, from Oslo, says that the closed border cost him thousands of kroner in more expensive food.

- Today I shopped for 3,000 kronor, at home it would probably have ended up at around 5,000, he says.

Trade lost many millions

The Värmland border trade has lost many millions in revenue at the closed border.

- Many have quit. This means not only a lot for the shops but for the whole area, says Kaj Hänninen.
