"In 2019 and for 5 months of this year, the Investigative Committee investigated more than 13 thousand crimes committed using information technology, as well as in the field of computer information," Petrenko said in an interview with the Zvezda TV channel.
The forensic investigators from a specialized department who are dealing with this problem have special equipment, including mobile systems that allow even remote digital data to be extracted from electronic mobile devices, she said.
According to Petrenko, this technique was used more than 26 thousand times in 2019. In more than 17 thousand cases of 13 thousand crimes, information significant for the investigation was obtained.
